Auxiliary workshop
PRINCETON — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 “Overseas Troops Christmas Box” workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Legion building. All members are to have items at the legion by this date. For more information, call Clara Pease at (815) 872-0430.
Red Hats event
PRINCETON — The Princeton Red Hats will celebrate Thanksgiving at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elks Lodge. Participants are reminded to bring a side dish.
Special event
TISKILWA — A Holiday Potpourri event will be Nov. 13 and 14 at 208 S. Arch St. in Tiskilwa. Hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 13, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 14.
Veterans Day ceremony
PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group, being members of American Legion Post 125, AMVETS Post 180 and VFW Post 4323, will conduct Veterans Day ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11 at Veterans Park on South Main Street in Princeton. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 will also participate in these ceremonies by laying a wreath at the monument in the park. All members are encouraged to attend. Holiday book sale
PRINCETON — The Friends of the Princeton Library “Holiday Book Sale” will be Nov. 21 and 22 at the Prouty Building in Princeton. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 and noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 22. A selection of novels and mysteries in hardcover and paperback will be on sale as well as Christmas books, gift books, cookbooks, children’s books, puzzles, games, videos and CDs.
Meeting set
LASALLE — The Tri-County Legal Secretaries Association will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. The location of the meeting has not been announced. Anyone interested in attending the December meeting should contact committee members Cathy Oliveri or Chris Powers at (815) 925-7016 or Valerie Smith at (815) 925-7378. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of even numbered months.
Veterans supper
BUDA — A veterans supper will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Buda Community Hall. A full turkey meal will be served. Tickets for the supper are $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4-12. All veterans will eat free.
Genealogical meeting
DIXON — Carol Chandler will be the featured speaker at the monthly meeting of the Lee County Genealogical Society at 7 p.m. Monday in the second floor conference room at KSB Hospital. The program will be “Orphan Trains — The Human Side of the Story.” There is no fee and refreshments will be served. The rooms are handicapped accessible and there will be a guide in the lobby.
