SPRING VALLEY — There have been no new leads on the armed robber who struck a Spring Valley pharmacy Friday.

Spring Valley Police Chief Kevin Sangston said Wednesday police are continuing to investigate last week’s incident, in which a white male took two boxes of prescription narcotics from the pharmacist at Thompson’s Drug Store at knifepoint.

At 11:16 a.m. Friday, a white male, described as being in his 20s and about 6 feet tall with a medium build, entered the rear of the store, located at 130 E. St. Paul St. Police said the man, who showed a knife to the pharmacist and demanded prescription medication, was given two boxes containing an unknown amount of prescription narcotics. After receiving the medication, he fled through the alley. There were no injuries.

The unidentified male had a white bandana or handkerchief over his face and wore a gray parka with a fur-lined hood.

Spring Valley police were assisted at the scene by the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department’s K9 unit, the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Team task force and Ladd police.

Sangston said the incident remains under investigation, and confirmed there have been no similar pharmacy robberies recently.

Anyone with information is asked to call Spring Valley Police Department at (815) 663-2351. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Illinois Valley Crime Stoppers at (800) 340-4045. A cash reward up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
