Ohio High School 9-28
OHIO — The Ohio High School Board took action on the following business at its meeting Sept. 28:
• Accepted and approved the budget for the 2010 fiscal year as presented, following the budget hearing.
• Met Ryan Hallada, the new business teacher.
• Approved pest control contract with Taylor Environmental Services, Inc.
• Approved the Joint Agreement Budget for the Behavioral Disorder Program.
• Approved the renewal certificate of membership for the Illinois School District Property/Casual Insurance.
• Approved student transportation contract with Toddle Time Express.
• Reviewed and accepted the Fiscal Year 2009 audit report.
• Approved the salary percentages of shared faculty and staff.
• Had first reading of policy manual updates.
• Appointed Superintendent Sharon Flesher as Freedom of Information Act Officer.
• Approved the itemized salary compensation report.
• Discussed some recent roof leaks. Flesher contacted the roof company, Durolast, which inspected the roof and determined all the leaks were covered by the warranty. They repaired the problems, and the district can submit damages, such as the upstairs closet, to them for repair.
• Discussed problems with the gutter and a sewer clog.
• Heard the regional office and state fire marshal conducted the annual building inspection. An exhaust fan in the boys' bathroom did not work, and someone had taken down the occupancy sign from the gym. The state fire marshal sited several rooms which he felt needed strobe lights to notify occupants in case of a fire. Flesher said she and Chips Giovanni believe they are not required, due to the grandfather clause, and the Regional Office is checking the code.
• Heard Flesher submitted the information requested for a regional office compliance audit.
• Discussed whether the school should host an H1N1 vaccine clinic.
• Heard from Principal Mark Downey there were seven students out for volleyball, one for football, eight for cheerleading, four for girls' basketball, and four for boys' basketball.
• Heard an update from Downey on the MySkillsTutor program. Downey said he was pleased with the report, and numbers were very high. He said Justin Mapes and Angela Petrakis were leading the program and doing a very nice job, and he also wanted to compliment the teachers for doing a great job.
• Contracted vision and hearing services from Mary Salz and services from nurse Sue Cater for the 2009-10 school year.
• Employed Hallada as high school chess coach.
