Chefs wanted for burger cook-off
UTICA — Feb. 1 has been chosen for Starved Rock’s first-ever “Burgers for Babies” cook-off.
Employees of Starved Rock Lodge were challenged to submit possible names for the event. Housekeeper Kristi McCollum came up with the winning name.
This March of Dimes fundraiser invites anyone who has a recipe for the best grilled hamburger to come out to the Lodge and compete for a good cause. The deadline to enter as a chef is Nov. 29. An entry fee of $20 will be donated directly to the March of Dimes.
Each chef will be responsible to bring their own ingredients for the perfect burger. Grills will be provided. On the night of the competition, two burgers will be prepared — one for “looks” and one for the judges to taste. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Hall and Starved Rock Room with beer tasting, sponsored by Euclid Beverage Co. At 6 p.m., a buffet will begin.
Tickets for this “Burger Buffet” are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance by calling (815) 220-7395. Judging will take place at 8 p.m. and winners will be announced at 9 p.m.
For more information, or to enter, go to www.starvedrocklodge.com or call (815) 220-7395.
