IVC wins first sectional title, L-P falls
Chillicothe IVC enjoyed all the comforts of home to capture its first sectional volleyball championship in school history.
The Lady Grey Ghosts defeated Monmouth-Roseville 25-19, 27-25 in Thursday’s 2A finals in Chillicothe.
IVC (30-5), which beat Hall in the regional finals, will take over the Lady Red Devils’ home court Saturday to face Harvard in the supersectionals at 7 p.m. at Red Devil Gymnasium. IVC fell to Princeton in the regional semifinals a year ago at the Hall gym.
Harvard (25-12) took the Oregon Sectional crown by defeating Savanna West Carroll 25-16, 25-11. West Carroll knocked out the NCIC’s Mendota Spikers 25-22, 17-25, 25-23 in Tuesday’s semifinals while Harvard ousted Sterling Newman.
• Class 3A: NCIC Reagan champ LaSalle-Peru fell to Normal U-High 25-19, 23-25, 25-18 in Thursday’s 3A sectional finals at Dunlap. The Lady Cavs, who fell in the sectional semis a year ago, bow out at 33-3-1.
