Primary candidates announced
Rosenow/Bertetto running for Republican sheriff’s candidate
PRINCETON — Bureau County voters won’t have a lot of decisions to make when it comes to the Feb. 2, 2010, primary ballot, at least on the local level.
The only county-wide local race on the primary ballot is for Republican Party’s nomination for the office of Bureau County Sheriff. Joe Bertetto and Bill Rosenow, both of Sheffield, are seeking their party’s nomination. The winner of the Republican primary will face incumbent Sheriff John Thompson of Ladd at the next general election. Thompson is running unopposed for re-election on the Democrat Party primary ticket.
The filing period for the February 2010 primary ended Monday at the Bureau County Circuit Clerk’s office. At the primary, voters will select their political party’s candidates for the November 2010 general election.
In other county-wide races, Bureau County Treasurer Nina Urbanowski and County Clerk Kami Hieronymus are both seeking re-election, but they are running unopposed for their Republican Party’s nomination. There are no Democratic candidates for the offices of county treasurer or county clerk.
The Bureau County Board will have 13 open seats on the November 2010 ballot. The candidates for those seats will be determined at the February primary. There are no contested primary races for the county board.
