ROCK ISLAND — The Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island will present an audience favorite, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Jan. 13 to March 20 as part of its 33rd season.

“Joseph” is a joyous and tuneful re-telling of the familiar Biblical story of Joseph and his 11 brothers at the time of Pharaoh. Circa ‘21’s 1998 and 2005 productions of “Joseph” have featured local children’s choirs performing with the cast, providing a unique opportunity for area children to experience firsthand, the thrill of a professional theatrical performance.

Organizer Sue Treanor is happy to announce that in addition to seeking local children’s choirs, the theatre will also be organizing a choir made up of individual students from across the area. “We’ve had so many students calling to express their interest in participating in the show but don’t have a choir to perform with. We are happy to provide this opportunity for them.”

Circa ’21 Producer Dennis Hitchcock is happy to offer this opportunity as well, adding “We are thrilled to be including children in our production of ‘Joseph’ again in 2010. The children involved always have a great time performing with the cast and they really add a lot to the show. We are also excited about adding the individual children this year.”

The “Joseph” choir audition is open to individual students in the area. Each week a different group will perform alongside Circa ’21’s professional cast. Each choir will be responsible for attending and performing in one week’s worth of performances.

Those wishing to audition will be asked to perform a short selection of their choosing and must be between grades 3 and 6 and no taller then 5 feet, 4 inches, due to choreography and staging considerations. Auditions will be at Circa ’21 at 11 a.m. Nov. 14.
