‘Holiday Shoppe For Our Babies’ set
WALNUT — “Holiday Shoppe For Our Babies” is the theme for this year’s March of Dimes benefit, set for Thursday.
For $10, the public will be treated to an all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar with bread and dessert included. A style show featuring fashions from Bergner’s will be the evening’s entertainment.
Tammie Peebles, one of the committee members for this year’s event, said, “There will be something here for everyone. We have several vendors from the area coming to display their products. From Pampered Chef to Rag Patch Quilts to jewelry and homestyle furnishings, everyone will be able to find something to take home with them.”
As well as door prizes, there will be other items for raffle. Gourmet baskets, a collection of cookbooks, a decorative mirror are a few items that will be available from the small raffle. The large raffle item of the evening is a diamond necklace.
A complimentary health fair including blood pressure checks, hand washing demonstrations and wise food choices, are just a few of the booths that will also be in attendance.
Walnut Manor, the host for this year’s event, is hoping for a good turnout.
“This is the first year we have done something like this. March of Dimes is such a good cause, mostly because it helps our children, and my hope is that we do well for them,” Peebles said.
Holiday Shoppe for our Babies will take place at First Christian Fellowship Hall, 109 Red Oak Road in Walnut. The event begins at 4 p.m. with a ticket price of $10. If you purchase your tickets in advance, you will receive $5 worth of general raffle tickets free. You can purchase early tickets at Citizens First State Bank, the Walnut Leader and Walnut Manor. A percentage of all proceeds will stay in the area.
