Morris restaurant to sell tacos in Ladd
LADD — A Morris restaurant is going to set up shop this Friday in downtown Ladd.
At Tuesday’s meeting, village of Ladd board members heard a proposal by Jesus Carlos, on behalf of a Morris restaurant called the Habanero Grill. Carlos asked the board members’ permission for the Habanero Grill to sell tacos outside the Cancun Restaurant & Bar on nights the Cancun hosts an event. The Cancun, located in downtown Ladd, is remodeling and does not have use of their kitchen.
Although a village ordinance states the sale of food has to be within an enclosed building, the board agreed to a trial run at a Cancun event set for Friday. The board wanted to first see the amount of business the venture would bring the Habanero Grill and how the operation was handled before giving an ultimate decision.
There was an initial question as to whether or not the sale of food outside will cause a disturbance, but the past success of similar operations quieted those concerns for the time being.
In other business, the board:
• Agreed to see a quote proposal by Brennan & Stuart Inc. of LaSalle at the next village meeting in regards to village liability insurance.
• Approved a budget of $300 for the police department’s acquisition of a new defibrillator battery.
• Agreed to continue service with AmerenIP with a 10-year agreement.
• Agreed to continue service with Comcast with a five-year agreement.
• Decided the tax levy meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
