PRINCETON — Amanda Morrow, daughter of Anthony Morrow and Stephanie VanOrdstrand, has been selected as the 2009 Princeton High School Daughter of American Revolution Good Citizen Award winner. This award is sponsored by the Princeton-Illinois Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and is on the National Association of Secondary School Principals approved list of national contests and activities.

Morrow was selected for this honor by the faculty and her classmates with the faculty selecting two seniors and classmates voting on one to serve as the Good Citizen of the Year. The DAR Good Citizen is selected based on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.

Throughout high school, Morrow has been actively involved in a variety of school and community organizations. She is a four-year member of the Scholastic Bowl Team and a two- year member of the National Honor Society. Morrow has been involved in a variety of school theater productions, including the supporting cast in Peter Pan, head of publicity for Jabberwock, and pit orchestra member of Pippin. She has been vice president of her class for two years and also is an active member in student council, serving as the 2009-10 student council president. Additionally, she is a four-year member of the girls’ tennis team, Big Brother/Big Sister Organization, concert band, concert choir, German club, and food club. Morrow has taken piano lessons for 12 years, receiving a superior ranking in the National Piano Guild audition process the last nine years. She has volunteered at the Friends of Strays, plays in the Princeton Community Band, taught vacation Bible School, and ushered at Festival 56 performances. She is presently employed by the law offices of Russell, English, Scoma and Beneke, P.C. Upon graduation from high school, she hopes to attend either Yale University or Swarthmore College and pursue an undergraduate degree in history with career plans in the field of legal studies.
