2009 BCR Soccer Honor Roll

Princeton made a run at the regional finals. Here’s a recap of some of the players on the BCR Honor Roll that made this season happen.

Reiter Bird, Princeton: The junior forward led the Tigers with 16 goals on the year, and also registered five assists. For his play on the pitch this season, Bird was a first-team NCIC All-Conference selection and was also a first-team Orion All-Tournament selection.

Austin Burrows, Princeton: The sophomore speedster earned an NCIC Honorable Mention pick for his play for the Tigers’ defense,

Jacob Fisher, Princeton: “Fish” was a second-team NCIC All-Conference pick, and finished his sophomore campaign with the four goals and four assists at midfield.

Justin Jenkins, Princeton: Jenkins, a senior captain for the Tigers, earned a second-team NCIC All-Conference selection for his defensive abilities this season, and also notched a goal.

Gabe Kelly, Princeton: As part of the Tigers’ talented corps of underclassmen, Kelly, a sophomore, received a NCIC Honorable Mention nod at midfield. He finished the year third in scoring for the Tigers with five goals, and also notched four assists.

Nolan Piper, Princeton: The PHS freshman was electric in the net after taking over keeper duties mid-season. An NCIC honorable mention recipient, Piper allowed 13 goals in 15 games in the net, a PHS record, and registered five shutouts.

Zach Rosene, Princeton: The junior stopper was a crucial stopper for the stingy Tigers defense, which gave up an average of 1.15 goals per contest. The first-team NCIC all-conference selection and team defensive MVP registered five saves for the Tigers, the most for any player not in goal.

Saul Rios, DePue: The DePue senior led the way in scoring this season for the Little Giants, tallying five goals to go along with an assist.

John Zearing, Princeton: The senior captain and Tiger defender was a second-team NCIC All-Conference pick, finishing the season with five assists and one goal

• 2009 in review: Princeton finished the season third overall in the NCIC at 7-2, behind Dixon and Geneseo, who both finished 8-1. The Tigers (15-9-2) reached the regional finals, falling to Monmouth-Roseville 2-1
