HENNEPIN — Donald Joseph Kostellic, 80, of Hennepin died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in Rochester, Minn.
Born May 9, 1929, in Granville to Frolin and Margaret (Geng) Kostellic, he married Bernadine Ahcin Nov. 26, 1955, in LaSalle. She survives.
He graduated from Hopkins High School and was employed at Illinois Power Co. in LaSalle as a gas foreman. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville and the V.F.W. He was a charter member and one of the founders of the Starved Rock Runners Club.
Also surviving are three sons, Louis (Roann) Kostellic and Damian (Gigi) Kostellic, both of Hennepin, and Eric (Lori) Kostellic of Oglesby; one daughter, Tina (Len) Kasperski of Granville; one brother, Leonard Kostellic of Granville; one sister, Joyce Ann (Bill) Mix of Ottawa; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville, with Father Duane Leclercq officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville, with full military honors conducted by members of the Granville American Legion and V.F.W.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
