PRINCETON — The Early Beginnings Play Group will meet at Princeton Public Library at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Also, an After School Craft Day will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and focus on Native American Crafts. The Book Club will meet at 7 p.m.
A preschool story hour will be held Tuesday with the theme “Thanksgiving.” The program will be held in the Youth Services Department, and preschool children and their parents or guardians are welcome to attend.
The library will be closed for Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 and 27.
LAMOILLE — Internet safety is a concern for all ages. LaMoille-Clarion Library, in partnership with LaMoille Community High School, Ladd Public Library, Ohio Public Library and Pankhurst Memorial Library in Amboy, is pleased to invite the public to a program on Internet safety. Sarah Migas, Internet safety specialist with the Illinois Attorney General’s office will cover Internet safety issues and answer questions, in the gymnasium at LaMoille High School at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
WYANET — The Raymond A. Sapp Library will celebrate Family Reading Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Wear your favorite cap while your family listens to Al Brown read “Caps for Sale” by Esphyr Slobodkina. This book is on the 100 Best Books List handed out by BVSE Library Aide Mrs. Huebner. Of course there will be more to this night than just reading the book. Come enjoy the fun.
The Book Group meets directly after Family Reading Night. The group will be discussing “The Great Stink” by Clare Clark.
The library staff and board would like to express a special thank you to Mick Henneberry for stepping in to fill a vacancy in our 2nd Thursday@the Library caused by illness. As always he delighted our guests with his expertise in storytelling. The younger crowd seemed to be partial to the rapping of The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. The crowd enjoyed all the tales, fairy to cowboy.
The Pre-K classes from Wyanet will come to visit the library during their study of communities. They will tour the library and enjoy a book.

TISKILWA — “Extra Help” (Medicare Part D Low Income Subsidy) will be offered at the Tiskilwa Public Library at 2 p.m. Monday. On July 15, 2008, Congress passed the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act, which made three key changes to Medicare Part D Low Income Subsidy applications filed after Jan. I, 2010. A representative from the Social Security department in Peru will be available to answer general questions about Extra Help as well as other Social Security-related questions. The program is free. LADD — The Ladd Public Library will hold a cookie sale and book sale on Dec. 5 during the Ladd Christmas in the Village.
The library is also having preschool story hours at 10:30 a.m. the first and third Monday of each month. These sessions include stories, activities and a craft. They are designed for ages three to five with a parent or guardian.
MINERAL — The Book Discussion at the Mineral Gold Library will meet on Tuesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Contact the library for more information.
SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Public Library held a bake and rummage sale on Sept. 25 and 26. The library board and staff would like thank all who donated and shopped. Proceeds will go to various capital expenditures and library materials. The library raised $782 with a matched donation from Linda and Conrad Hewitt, who deserve a special thank you. Thanks go to board members Russ Wagner, Loretta Glubczynski, Jackie Burt and Jen Nottrott, Sue Bromme, Kaye Scott, Mildred Foes, Linda Lyon, Chestnut Street Inn, library employee Peg Foster, Too Good To Be Threw, Frances Hughes, Dorothy Runft, Bruce McMahon, Elaine Kelm, Darlene Weber, Val Humphreys and everyone else who donated and whose names the librarian didn’t get. The library would like to offer a special thanks to Dawn Halberg and Leif Porter for hosting the sale at their home and making a contribution in memory of Leif’s mother, Geraldine Porter, who was once a librarian at the library. Special thanks also go to Jean Schmitt who spent much time on and showed great enthusiasm for the project. A special thanks to Deb Mechling from Kewanee, who donated seven pies to the bake sale.
Also, the library held its third annual Halloween Weenie Roast featuring local author Dave Youngquist on Oct. 23. Despite the low temperature, high wind and misting rain, local library users came out to have hot chocolate, hot dogs and chips while Youngquist told of his ghost hunting adventures. His books are available at the library.
PERU — Ed Krolak and the Peru Public Library cordially invite the public to attend a reading of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens in five parts.
