OHIO — The Ohio High School Board took action on the following items at its meeting Oct. 26:

• Unanimously approved a resolution of intent to reduce taxes upon receipt of additional tax revenue from the Big Sky Wind Farm project. The resolution would not automatically lower the tax rate but Superintendent Sharon Flesher said was designed to assure the public the board’s intent would be to lower taxes at that time.

• Revisited the Whiteside and Educators of Beauty fees and how it relates to policy. The board approved amending the WRVS Joint Agreement concerning student fees, with the district paying all fees if students qualify for a free lunch.

• Approved the 2010 School Library Per Capita Grant application.

• Approved Life Safety Amendments to repair the sewer problem, install new gutters and install a fire strobe light for the cafeteria.

• Approved the senior class trip for spring break, if the students raise enough money and follow school guidelines.

• Welcomed the new English teacher, Ashlee Larabee.

• Heard an update on the finding of the recent regional office annual inspection. Flesher said the broken exhaust fan in a bathroom has been fixed, and signs requested by the state fire marshal for the library and locker rooms have arrived and will be installed. The strobe light for the cafeteria will be taken care of as soon as the paperwork goes through for the life safety amendment.

• Discussed the resumption of work at the Big Sky Wind Farm project. Anticipated completion is 14 to 16 months away.

• Heard 70 students received the H1N1 vaccination at the school.

• Accepted the resignation of Laura White as bus driver, effective immediately.
