Princeton City Council 11-16
PRINCETON — The Princeton City Council conducted the following business at its Nov. 16 meeting in city hall:
• Approved the annexation of The Grove trailer court, owned by Harold Miller, into the city limits. The trailer court is located on the west edge of town on Fairgrounds Road.
• Approved moving forward with the acquisition of real property, located at 935 N. Main St., by eminent domain for streetscape improvements on Main Street. The property is the former Goodrum filling station.
• Heard Peerless Midwest has withdrawn its bid for Phase 1 of the city’s new well field site improvement project. The council then awarded the contract Monday night to the next lowest bid of $391,625 from Kelley Dewatering. The Kelley Dewatering bid was about $19,000 more than the Peerless Midwest bid. The project will not go forward without federal stimulus money.
• Approved the purchase of Ameren IP customers and equipment in the Claude Bailey Estates for $22,724.
• Heard the city issued six residential building permits in October, at a value of $42,745, and one commercial building permit, at a value of $1,000. Year-to-date in 2009, the city has issued a total of 105 building permits, at a value of $2.4 million. For the same time period in 2008, the city had issued 111 building permits, at a value of $8.1 million. For the same time period in 2007, the city issued 118 building permits, at a value of $10.3 million.
• Heard the city received $131,785 from its 1 percent share of sales tax in November, compared to $155,035 in November 2008. Heard the city also received $43,002 from its 0.5 percent non home rule sales tax in November, compared to $49,436 in November 2008.
• Approved payment of bills as follows: $9,738 in the Department of Public Affairs; $13,077 in the Department of Accounts and Finances; $100,953 in the Department of Public Health and Safety; $145,003 in the Department of Streets and Public Improvements; $389,260 in the Department of Public Property and Utilities.
