SPRING VALLEY — Marjorie Barto, 83, of 124 W. Cleveland St., Spring Valley, died at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at her home after a five-year battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 25, 1925, in DePue to Martin and Caroline (Setinc) Novak, she married James R. Barto Aug. 16, 1947, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DePue. He survives.
She graduated from DePue High School in 1944 and then Brown’s Business College. She was a member and was elected secretary of the Gamma Chapter of Rho Zeta International Honorary Fraternity.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley and the Mother Cabrini Sodality of the church. She was a charter member of St. Margaret’s Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the SNPJ and a former Cub Scout den mother.
Also surviving are one son, James M. (Laura) Barto of Spring Valley; four daughters, Irene (Ronald) Storette of Scottsdale, Ariz., Rita (Raymond) Anderes and Janet (Dale) Olson, both of Spring Valley, and Marjorie Ann (Mike) Koyak of Fishers, Ind.; one brother, Stanley “Lefty” Novak of DePue; and nine grandchildren, Doug (Becca) Barto, Julie Barto, Ryan (Alexis) Anderes, Reid Anderes, Renee Anderes, Michael J. Koyak, Craig (Nicki) Olson, Lissa Olson and Brett Olson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
