PRINCETON — The Princeton High School Music Department announces the 2009 Madrigal Dinner will be “Make We Mirth”, a Madrigal dinner celebrating the holiday season, to be presented at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Bureau County Metro Center, 837 Park Ave. West, Princeton.
This year’s madrigal dinner continues a music department tradition of madrigal dinners, featuring students in the music department who are members of the Choir and Band Organizations, who have auditioned for membership in the PHS Music Ensemble Showcase.
Entertaining the “Make We Mirth” guests will be the Madrigal Brass, the Recorder Consort, and the Lord Mayor’s harpsichordists. These students continue in a tradition of exploring as many areas of music performance and interest as time allows.
The students rehearse throughout the school year based upon need and scheduled performances for both traditional school events and at community functions upon invitation. Choral ensembles are directed by PHS Choir Director Joy E. Schertz; instrumental ensembles are directed by PHS Band Director Laurie Bonner.
Ticket reservation forms are available online at www.phs-il.org under madrigal dinner, can be picked in the PHS main office or may be obtained from any Madrigal Singer or cast member. For more information, call Princeton High School (815) 875-3308, ext. 375. Questions may be addressed to Joy E. Schertz, PHS choral director.
