PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will have its combined November/December program on Thursday at the society library at 629 S. Main St. in Princeton. The public is always welcome to attend these free meetings.

A social hour will begin at 6 p.m. Guests and members are encouraged to bring a finger food and share in buffet style. Those attending last year’s closing meeting may remember the challenge to complete a genealogy project during the year and display it at this year’s final meeting. Those projects were to be of any genealogical nature such as family trees, family stories, family recipes, etc. Those projects, if completed, should be placed on the display table upon arrival.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature BCGS member Jean Cavada who will present “Mac of All Trades.” This Power Point presentation will tell the story of her father, Buford P. “Mac” McClellan, who lived in Tiskilwa for more than 70 years. His hobbies of photography and furniture making will be a part of this program along with some family history, primarily from the Tiskilwa area. In addition, Jean’s family still has several of the dozens of pieces that Mac built, and she will bring them for display at the program.

Last month’s speaker was Craig Pfannkuche whose presentation was on railroad records.

The BCGS Library will be closed over the Christmas-New Year holiday. The last regular day will be Dec. 18. They will reopen on Jan. 4.

Anyone needing to use the library during those two weeks may call (815) 879-3133 or (815) 303-7386 to make an appointment.

This meeting will also include the election of officers for 2010.
