BV Crops Team competes

The Bureau Valley FFA traveled to Black Hawk East in Kewanee on Nov. 3 to compete in the Section 3 Agronomy Contest. Team members included Ryan Haney, Donna McCune, Jordan Monier, Trevin Kennedy and Ryan Ehnle. Individual competitors were Hannah Shearburn, Bryce Walters, Ethan Wright, Dylan Thompson, Susan Brummel, Josh Lewis, Danae Ross, Frank Gebeck, Danny Hartz, Ethan Ringle, Logan Marquez, Seth Ross and Josh Knobloch. The contest required contestants to identify various crop seeds, weeds and insects as well as judge sample rings of oats, soybeans, wheat and hay. The members also had to take a written agronomy test which tested their knowledge of crops and growing practices. Black Hawk East instructor Andrew Larson recognized Knobloch as the top scorer on the written exam. The Bureau Valley FFA crops team placed third, with individual placings including Knobloch sixth and Haney seventh place.
