Four attend annual meeting

OTTAWA — Jordan Diehl, 2009 Miss Bureau County Fair; Bill Diller, Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs and Bureau County Board member, Frank Mautino, state representative for District 76; and Samantha Dunphy, 2009 Miss Marshall-Putnam Fair, were present at the annual Northern Zone meeting Nov. 1 in Ottawa.
Rep. Mautino has worked very diligently in trying to make certain Illinois fairs continue to receive assistance from the state of Illinois.
The meeting gives this area’s fairs and vendors an opportunity to hold their annual meeting and see showcased entertainment.
The queens also have an opportunity to meet each other and be introduced to those in attendance. There is also a pageant directors meeting held by Illinois Director Wendy Bell.
Last year, the state pageant committee also started having “mock” interviews with the queens to introduce them to how the interviews will be conducted at the state pageant held in January.
The director of the Bureau County Fair Queen Pageant is Sue VonHolten, and the director of the Marshall-Putnam Queen Pageant is Jodi Slingsby.
Diehl is from Atkinson. Last year the Bureau County Fair Queen pageant opened to girls whose county in which they reside border Bureau County.
