Red Hats event
PRINCETON — The Princeton Red Hats will celebrate Christmas at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Princeton. Members are asked to bring a gift for a child and a tray of cookies.
Breakfast planned
PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital retirees and former employees will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday for breakfast at the Princeton Plaza Restaurant.
Raffle planned
PRINCETON — The Princeton Chamber of Commerce is holding a winter getaway raffle. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Chamber office at 435 S. Main St. First prize is two coach class Air Tran Airways tickets and $200 spending money. Second prize is a $50 Princeton Chamber gift certificate, and third prize is a $25 Princeton Chamber gift certificate. The drawing will be Dec. 17 at the Chamber Business After Hours event. Book club meeting
PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 in the community meeting room at the library. The group will discuss “The Street of a Thousand Blossoms” by Gail Tsukiyama. The staff at the library will be glad to assist anyone in borrowing this book. Anyone is invited to join the group, sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library, in discussing this book.
Youth dance
PRINCETON — A youth dance for eighth graders and younger, sponsored by the Princeton Moose Kids Club, will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Princeton Moose Lodge. Admission is $4, with free drinks and pizza provided.
Drawing today
CHERRY — The Bureau County Mounted Search and Rescue will draw the winner of the gun raffle at 7:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Cherry Supper Club. The rifle depicts the Cherry Mine Disaster of 1909 and all tickets have been sold. The public is invited to attend.
Bake and wood sale
LADD — St. Gertrude’s Friends will have a bake and wood sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at North Central Bank in Ladd. Homemade baked items, including pies, candy, cookies and noodles, will be available, as well as handcrafted wooden shelves, toys and wreaths. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bureau County. For more information, call (815) 894-2092.
Christmas walk
TISKILWA — The Tiskilwa Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas Walk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The theme for this year’s event is “Catch the Spirit.” More than 30 village and rural businesses will offer door prizes and surprises. The names of door prize winners will be drawn at 1:30 p.m. at the Tiskilwa Community Association building, located at Main and Sycamore streets. Rural businesses will set up shop at the fire station. Other activities will include a visit with Santa, a soup-and-sandwich lunch, free carriage rides and a display of nativity scenes.
Christmas show
PRINCETON — The Acro Cats will perform their circus talents in a Christmas show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Grace Performing Arts Center, 316 S. Main St. in Princeton. Event-goers will be able to see real cats playing music, jumping through wreaths, ringing bells, pushing ornaments and more. The cats are trained by Princeton native Samantha Martin.
Breakfast with Santa
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Ambulance Service will host a breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the LaMoille Lions Club.
Pancake breakfast
SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Lions Club will host its annual fundraiser pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12.
