Tigers split against Three Rivers foes

The Princeton Tigers took a walk into the Three Rivers Conference Thursday at Erie. They defeated Morrison, 60-12, but lost to host Erie/Prophetstown, 59-9.

Winners on the mat versus the Mustangs included Reiter Bird (7-0 at 130, Tyler Griffin (0:56 fall at 140), Earle Towne (3:26 fall at 145), Teddy Bartoli (1:37 fall at 152), Colton Pate (5:44 tech fall at 160), Zach Clark (1:20 fall at 189) and Jacob Robison (1:20 fall at 215). Bowman (112), Zac Schultz (119), Cody Barringer (135) and Alan Delbridge (285) all won by forfeits.

PHS’ lone victors against E/P were Eric Bickett, who won 6-5 at 119, and Del-bridge with a 1:36 fall at 285.

At Granville: History was held with the first wrestling matches in school history at Putnam County. The fledgling PC program made a grand debut by defeating St. Bede and Midland 42-30 and Dwight 36-15.

When the teams got together on the mats, between six forfeits, PC outwrestled St. Bede five matches to three. The Bruin decisions came from Steve Puhr at 152, who pinned Ricky Kinczewski at 1:05; Dan Rucinski at 160, who pinned Gunner Torres at 1:39; and J.P. Tiger at 189, who pinned Chase Redshaw at 4:50.

The Bruins won their duals vs. Dwight 30-27 and Midland 42-30.

There were only three matches wrestled between St. Bede and Midland, all won by the Timberwolves.

Puhr went 3-0 on the night with a pin against Dwight and a forfeit over Midland. Tiger finished 2-1, also pinning his Dwight foe.
