Cannabis seized during traffic stop
A vehicle driven by Charles Wingate of Crownsville, Md., was stopped Dec. 7 by Illinois State Police on Interstate 80 eastbound at Milepost 80 for following too closely and improper lane usage.
The officer detected the odor of cannabis while talking with the driver through the passenger window and a probable cause search was conducted. During the search, a plastic container was found in a duffle bag on the front passenger seat that contained cannabis and a cannabis smoking pipe. Located in the truck of the vehicle was a large green duffle bag that contained 10 large packages of cannabis. Total weight of the cannabis seized with 10.4 pounds.
Basil was confined at the LaSalle County Jail for the offense of possession with intent to deliver cannabis.
