DEPUE — Daniel J. Spanos Sr., 82, of 117 Newell St., DePue, died at 12:21 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Manor Court of Peru in Peru.

Born April 14, 1927, in Spring Valley to John and Gladys (Hall) Spanos, he married Jeanne Daneke July 5, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DePue. She survives.

He worked at the New Jersey Zinc Co. in DePue as an electrician until retiring. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DePue.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann Gedvilas of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Jeanne (Fred Sloan) Williams of Riverside, Calif., and Connie (Randy Dowell) Spanos of Spring Valley; three sons, Daniel (Kim) Spanos Jr. of Dalzell, Tom (Mona) Spanos of Spring Valley and John (Julie) Spanos of Litchfield, Minn.; one brother, Jack (Judy) Spanos of DePue; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one grandson and one granddaughter.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, DePue, with the Rev. Kevin Creegan officiating.

The Barto Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
