SPRING VALLEY — Emil M. Pizzamiglio, 87, of 428 W.  Caroline St., Spring Valley, died at 12:34 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Born June 3, 1922, in Spring Valley to Marco J. and Ann (Terando) Pizzamiglio, he married Shirley Murphy June 1, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Arlington. She survives.

He was a service technician for Sear for more than 20 years and before that worked for Valley Appliance. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Spring Valley, St. John Bosco Association of the church, Spring Valley American Legion, Mendota Elks and Peru Eagles. He was a 50-plus year member of Musicians Local 307 and the leader of the Plaid Lads.

Also surviving are one son, Larry Pizzamiglio of Grenada Hills, Calif.; one daughter, Carol (Randall) Kierski of rural Princeton; one sister, Elaine Swingel of Spring Valley; and one granddaughter, Kara Pizzamiglio.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with an American Legion service at 10 a.m.
