James Dow
PRINCETON — James Walton Dow, 67, of Princeton died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Born April 11, 1942, in Princeton to Harry Dow and Jane (Halberg) Dow, he married Diane Sapp Nov. 28, 1966, in Wyanet. She survives.
He graduated Princeton High School in 1960. He then served in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman until 1964. In 1966 he became a Princeton Police Officer. He served his community on the police force until 1976 when he and his family briefly moved to California. After their return to the area he served as deputy sheriff for Bureau County for three years. From 1981 to 1994 he and his family again resided in California and then moved to Oklahoma until 2008 when they returned to Princeton.
Also surviving his mother of Princeton; are two sons, James Walton Dow II of Princeton and Kent Dow of Texas; one brother, Mike (Gina) Dow of Princeton; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Amber, still at home in Texas; one nephew, Jamie Dow; and one niece, Shelby Dow Cook.
He was preceded by his father.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Jon Olinger officiating. Burial will be private and at a later date.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
