Ladd School Board
LADD — The Ladd School Board took action on the following items at its meeting Jan. 19:
• Heard from Superintendent Michelle Zeko the district has collected 63 percent of its revenues and expended 41 percent. The board will need to amend the budget before the end of the fiscal year. Zeko said state aid will not be what was projected, and the ARRA Grant will be amended also.
• Reviewed a report showing the state owes the school district $79,105.30 in pending payments. After discussion, it was agreed to hold a Finance Committee meeting at 5 p.m. on Feb. 9 to plan for contingency should the state not be able to make its payments to the district.
• Reviewed the non-certified employee and non-tenured certified staff listing showing dates of hire and years in the district.
• Reviewed and approved the tenured certified staff seniority reports.
• Heard the state is offering a no cost Gifted Education Course for teachers administered by the Regional Office of Education. Most of the coursework will be conducted online. Nine of the district’s teachers would like to take advantage of this course.
• Heard the seventh- and eighth-grade students competed in a geography bee sponsored by teacher Jennifer Manning. Ian Trevier won first place, and Rachel Bezely won second place.
• Approved four options from Control Engineering to revise and reprogram the HVAC controls. The total cost is $13,590 assuming a 10 percent discount is applied.
• Approved Comcast as the district’s Internet provider at a cost of $104.90 per month for three years.
• The next regular meeting of the board of education will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 16.
