CHERRY — Doris C. Stefko, 88, formerly of Cherry, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Peru, where she had resided for four years.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1921, in Bureau County to Henry and Clara (Welch) Hartig. She was a homemaker. She married Joseph J. Stefko Jr. on Feb. 20, 1939. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Cherry, and the church Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Ladd NOA organization and a former Cub Scout Den Mother.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Gerald) Martinkus of Cherry and Patricia (Paul) Pescetto of Peru; one son, Joseph Stefko III of Cherry; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; and one son-in-law, Ronald Raef of Cherry.

She was preceded by her husband, Joseph J. Stefko Jr. on Aug. 13, 1984; one daughter, Doris Lynn Raef on July 24, 2009; one great-granddaughter; sisters; and one brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Church, Cherry, with the Rev. Michael Monclova officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Miner’s Memorial Cemetery, Cherry.

Visitation will be private.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Arrangements are through the Fiocchi Funeral Home, Cherry.
