Kay C. Hurdis
PRINCETON — Kay C. Hurdis, 66, of Princeton passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1943. in Beloit, Wis. to Nels and Vivian (Grulke) Westerberg. Kay graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Wis., in 1962. She worked as an x-ray technician for more than 35 years, retiring in 1998. She married Robert "Bob" A. Hurdis Oct. 26, 1963, in Clinton, Wis.
Kay was a member of the Women of the Moose, Princeton Women's Bowling, Covered Bridge Quilters, Wyanet Old Car Club, and a Gold Coat Volunteer at PMH. She taught Sunday school for more than 30 years and was a leader in Brownies and Girl Scouts.
Kay is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bob Hurdis of Princeton; two children, Heidi (Chuck) Pumphrey of Chatham, and Jason (Josie) Hurdis of Washington, Ill.; grandchildren, Riley Morris, Jessica Dickens, Jana Hurdis, Jennifer Hurdis, Lauren Pumphrey, and stepgrandchildren, Donna and Wills Pumphrey; stepbrothers, Bill (Judy) Kutz of Clinton, Wis., Anthony Kutz of Jupiter, Fla., and one stepsister, Judith Meisner of Janesville, Wis.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, and one grandson, Braden Morris.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Norberg Memorial Home, the Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Burial will be private and at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Norberg Memorial Home.
