Bureau Valley School Board 2-16
MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley School Board took action on the following items at its meeting Tuesday, Feb. 16:
• Approved the school calendar for 2010-11 which includes Aug. 16 as an institute day; first student attendance Aug. 17; Christmas break from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3, 2011; teacher institute Jan. 3, 2011; spring break March 28-April 1, 2011; last day (with built-in snow days) June 2, 2011.
• Approved four-year retirement notifications for 2014 for BV South teacher Wendee VanderMeersch and high school special education teacher Larry McBride.
• Approved retirement notice for bus monitor Margaret Twidell for May.
• Approved IESA membership for Bureau Valley North and South.
• Approved a high school band/chorus overnight trip/performance to St. Louis. Superintendent Terry Gutshall said the overnight trip takes place every other year and is paid for by the Music Boosters.
• Heard all Bureau Valley schools received full recognition by the ISBE.
• Accepted the fuel bid from AgView FS. Board member Myron Rumbold said the bids were lower than last year’s bids.
The next regular meeting of the Bureau Valley School Board will be at 7:30 p.m. March 15 in the B.E.S.T. Program cafeteria in Manlius.
