Princeton City Council 3-1
PRINCETON — The Princeton City Council conducted the following business at its March 1 meeting in city hall:
• Swore into office Cory Leigh as a full-time firefighter/EMT for the Princeton Fire Department. Leigh began as a volunteer firefighter in 2007 and was classified part-time in 2008. He will attend the Illinois Fire Service Institute's six-week entry level fire academy, beginning March 8.
• Annexed property owned by Jay and Jennifer Alter into the city limits, as requested by the Alters.
• Discussed vacating an alley way at 1019 N. Main St. The council directed the city attorney to draw up an ordinance for the next meeting.
• Adopted an ordinance to execute a grant agreement to enter into the ARRA Electric Efficiency Program through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
• Approved payment of bills as follows: $11,042 in the Department of Public Affairs; $118,169 in the Department of Accounts and Finances; $118,539 in the Department of Public Health and Safety; $339,902 in the Department of Streets and Public Improvements; $217,805 in the Department of Public Property and Utilities.
