Esther Helm

SPRING VALLEY — Esther Marie Helm, 99, of rural Spring Valley died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Born Dec. 6, 1910, in Peru to John and Bertha (Boers) Fiedler, she married Howard Helm Aug. 19, 1931, at the Hollowayville E & R  Church. He died March 18, 1992.

She was a member of the Hollowayville United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aide Circle of the church. She was also a member of the St. Margaret Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladd NOA Fun Food Friend Group.

Surviving are one daughter, Donna Hamrick of rural Spring Valley; two grandsons, Paul (Trina) Hamrick of Spring Valley and William (Cleo) Hamrick of Florida; and one great-grandson, Chad Hamrick of Spring Valley.

She was also preceded in death by two sons in infancy and one sister, Edith Brooks.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hollowayville United Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Slutz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Hollowayville.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
