WALNUT — Marguerite “Mag” A. Clary, 88, formerly of Walnut, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Geneseo.
She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in New Bedford, the daughter of Gus and Mae (Norman) Lubbs. Marguerite was united in marriage to Marvin Clary on Jan. 19, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1981.
She was a member of the Walnut First Christian Church. She and her husband were lifetime farmers in the Kewanee, Annawan and Walnut area. Marguerite really enjoyed volunteering her time to help others, and was a very special friend to many people especially in Walnut and at the nursing home. She always believed in enjoying life to its fullest.
Marguerite is survived by two sons, Ronald (Sheila) Clary of Geneseo and Dale (Wendy) Clary of Dunlap; five grandchildren, Rick, Randy, Robin, Jason and Ben; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Berniece Johnston of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Norman “Bud” Lubbs of Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Brian Moore of the Walnut First Christian Church, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Manlius Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
A memorial has been established in her memory to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Geneseo and the Institute of Physical and Medical Rehabilitation (I.P.M.R.) in Peoria.
