Skateboard ramp could roll into Buda
BUDA — According to Buda Mayor Lloyd May, youth in Buda are looking for something to do, and they suggested to May that maybe a skateboard ramp would be possible.
May discussed the idea with village board members at Monday’s meeting, and although no decision was made, the majority agreed that there really isn’t much for youth to do in the village. Maybe something like skateboard ramp would be a good thing.
The skateboard ramp, if passed by the board, would be built in the city park. The matter was talked about a bit more, and a decision to table until a later date was suggested.
Duane Roberts, superintendent of village services, reported to the board a new colander is needed for the water system. It will cost approximately $1,125. The board agreed anything needed to keep the water system going is necessary, so a motion to allow Roberts to purchase the colander was accepted.
Trustee Pete DeFreezer informed the board he will begin the legwork needed to acquire funds for a new well in the park. DeFreezer will be talking with North Central Illinois Council of Governments to discuss ta CDAP grant and how much the village can apply for, if they qualify. The project is scheduled to take place in 2011.
In other business, the board:
• Donated $200 to the village Easter egg hunt for 2010. The date and time of event will be announced at the next board meeting.
• Will be sending village engineer Jack Kusek, McClure Engineering, LaSalle, a couple of shingles off of the village office and library building roof. The shingles are starting to “cup up,” and since the roof is only 10 years old, the board would like Kusek’s opinion as to what can be done as far as getting the roof fixed before larger problems occur.
• The Community Hall ramp will be repaired by Randy Foster of Buda. The village will supply the materials needed, and Foster will donate the labor involved with the project.
