$20 million richer
HENNEPIN — A Hennepin man was the single winner of Friday's Mega Million lottery drawing. The winning ticket, worth $20 million, was bought at the Hennepin Food Market.
On Tuesday, Hennepin Food Market owner Anton Dzierzynski said the man who won the Mega Million lottery is a good family man, with a wife and kids. The name of the winner will not be released publicly until the man turns in his ticket.
The winning ticket-holder came into his store Sunday morning and was obviously excited about his good fortune, Dzierzynski said. The man will take a few days to contact a lawyer and others to help him handle his newly-found wealth before turning in his ticket and claiming his money.
Dzierzynski said he couldn’t believe it when he first heard his store had sold the winning ticket. He learned the news Saturday morning from people in town who had looked up the lottery results online. Though the name of the winners are not announced, the locations where the winning tickets were bought are put online.
As seller of the winning ticket, Dzierzynski will receive 1 percent, or $200,000, of the $20 million prize. That money will go back into the store, which has been in the family for 53 years. Plans are to update the technology in the store and make some improvements for their customers, he said.
The winning lottery numbers were 2, 15, 25, 48, 53 and 41 as the Mega Ball.
