PRINCETON — The Princeton Park District conducted the following business at its March 15 meeting at the Bureau County Metro Center:

• Heard an update from Elaine Russell, the park district’s executive director, on the new membership fingerprint scanning system. It’s important for everyone to stop at the front desk, whether they have a membership, are participating in a class or are doing a daily pass, she said.

• Heard an update on the hot water boiler project. The boiler is still providing hot water, but details are being worked out on how to cut apart the old boiler and remove it from the building, Russell said.

• Heard the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to replace the bridge on Route 26 at the bottom of the City County Park during the next five years.

• Awarded the turf maintenance contract for the district’s parks to Taylor’s Natural Green Lawn of Princeton at a low bid of $21,727.

• Heard a report from board member Dick Volker on work being done with community members to replace the scoreboard at the West Park ball diamond.

• Heard from Conrad Swenson about the park district getting some American Chestnut trees through the American Chestnut Tree Foundation, of which Swenson is a member.
