NAPERVILLE — The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation has awarded $50,000 to the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) to help fund the first-ever Illinois Mission of Mercy (Illinois MOM) event.

The two-day event, scheduled for June 11 and 12, will be hosted at the Interstate Center in Bloomington. Illinois children and adults will receive dental care at no cost and with no need to schedule appointments.

“The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation is proud to serve as a major sponsor of Illinois’ first Mission of Mercy event,” said Tom Colgan, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Illinois. “The goal of Illinois MOM ties perfectly with our company’s mission and our Foundation’s purpose of improving the oral health of the communities we serve.”

The event is expected to deliver approximately $900,000 in basic dental care, including fillings, extractions and cleanings. Individuals interested in receiving this complimentary care will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

During the event, Delta Dental of Illinois’ Tooth Wizard and PlaqueMan will perform the entertaining “Land of Smiles” show, educating event-goers about proper oral health habits. Delta Dental of Illinois has provided the free show to hundreds of Illinois schools and nearly 30,000 students this year alone.
