Bob Talbot 4-H Sale of Champions
PRINCETON — The Bob Talbot Memorial 4-H Sale of Champions was held July 24 at the close of the annual Bureau County 4-H Fair.
Results for this year’s sale, now in its 13th year, are as follows:
Grand Champion Market Beef - (1,370 pounds), exhibited by Jolett Rod of Clarion Comets 4-H Club, and sold to Milledgeville Vet Clinic, Food Animal Veterinary Service, Rod Pioneer Sales, Heckert Feeds, Michlig Ag, Vaessen Brothers Chevrolet, Sublette Bank, Sublette Elevator, Diller-Rod Inc. and 4-H Sale of Champions Supporters for $6.60/pound.
Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef - (1,220 pounds), exhibited by Donna McCune of Manlius Boys & Girls 4-H Club, and sold to Green River Seeds, Michlig Ag, Northern Grain and 1st Farm Credit Services for $5.50/pound.
Grand Champion Market Hog - (255 pounds), exhibited by Lauren McMillan of Walnut Winners 4-H Club, and sold to Central Bank, Rollo Construction – Walnut, an anonymous donor, Ed and Judy McMillan and Teresa Sanford for $5.40/pound.
Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog - (275 pounds), exhibited by Bryce Walters of Walnut Winners 4-H Club and sold to Cargill for $4.25/pound.
Grand Champion Market Lamb - (142 pounds), exhibited by Bryce Walters of Walnut Winners 4-H Club and sold to Cargill for $5/pound.
Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb - (127 pounds), exhibited by Tyler Rumbold of Western Winning Wonders 4-H Club, and sold to 4-H Sale of Champions Supporters and Tyler’s Grandparents for $4/pound.
Grand Champion Market Goat - exhibited by Ryan Grieff of Bureau County Super South 4-H Club and sold to Rabe Agribusiness, Karl A. Schultz Insurance and 1st Farm Credit Services for $400.
Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat - exhibited by Ryan Grieff of Bureau County Super South 4-H Club and sold to Bill and Shirley Erickson, Grieff Enterprises and Cargill for $400.
Grand Champion Meat Pen Rabbits - exhibited by Danae Ross of Western Winning Wonders 4-H Club and sold to Steve Gerdes for $325.
Reserve Champion Meat Pen Rabbits - exhibited by Kaitlyn Hildebrand of Dover-Berlin 4-H Club and sold to Karl A. Schultz Insurance for $275.
Grand Champion Waterfowl Meat Production Pen - exhibited by Joanna Klein of Clarion Comets 4-H Club and sold to Don and Barb Schlund for $300.
Reserve Grand Champion Waterfowl Meat Production Pen - exhibited by Hannah Williams of Western Winning Wonders 4-H Club and sold to Bill and Sharon Bickett of Poor Boys Catering for $225.
Grand Champion Poultry Meat Production Pen - exhibited by Joanna Klein of Clarion Comets 4-H Club and sold to Bill and Sharon Bickett of Poor Boys Catering for $235.
Reserve Grand Champion Poultry Meat Production Pen - exhibited by Hannah Weeks of Clarion Comets 4-H Club and sold to Barb Feik and Jerry Harden for $225.
The 4-H Sale of Champions Supporters is a group of donors who contribute money to a pool for the purchase of animals. 2010 donors to the 4-H Sale of Champions Supporters include Animal Care Clinic, Bureau Valley Veterinary Service, Marilyn Burkman in memory of Dennis Burkman, D & B Morton Fertilizer Service, Diller-Rod Inc., First Federal Savings & Loan Association, First State Bank of Van Orin & Malden Banking Center, Northern Grain Marketing LLC, Pioneer Research, State Bank of Cherry, Trego Veterinary Service PC, and United Feeds.
The 4-H Sale of Champions Committee consisting of Karl Schultz, Don Monier, Chris VonHolten and Brandon Carlson were assisted at the sale by auctioneer Rick Rediger.
