'Fishing with a Vet' day
SPRING VALLEY — Walleyes Chicago is hosting a “Fishing with a Vet” day Sept. 18, at the Spring Valley Boat Club, beginning at 8 a.m. and returning at 2 p.m., with a barbecue to follow.
Walleyes Chicago President Barry O’Flynn said this is an opportunity for veterans to come out and enjoy a day of fishing on the Illinois River with club members. The club will supply all boats, tackle, bait and the barbecue, and veterans only need to show up with a fishing license and their personal gear. The number of spaces is limited to 30.
“This is a small way of saying thank you to all vets who have sacrificed so much in order for us to enjoy the freedom that we sometimes take for granted,” O’Flynn said.
