John McCloud Sr.

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — John W. McCloud Sr., 80, of Travelers Rest, S.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, S.C.

He was born July 6, 1930, in Wyanet to Hubert R. and Isabella (Schandelmeier) McCloud.

He was a graduate of Bureau Township High School. He was a retired Navy veteran with service in the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Gaynelle Shook McCloud; two sons John (Christine) McCloud Jr. and Hubert Dean McCloud; one daughter, Louanne (Jim) Lunny; four sisters, Velma Bingaman of Rock Island, Charlotte (Roger) Nielsen of Sheffield, Ruth (Ronald) Pioterek of Princeton and Alice May of Moline; one brother, Bill (Mary) McCloud of Buda; and four grandchildren, John McCloud III, Elizabeth McCloud, Rebecca Lunny and Hannah Lunny.

Services and visitation were held Aug. 27 at The Howze Mortuary. Burial was in Grand View Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest, S.C.
