Citizens releases this year’s medallion clues/meanings

The following set of clues and the meanings behind them were released by Citizens First National Bank after the elusive medallion was finally found at Westside Park.

Clue 1

The twenty-third Great Medallion Hunt has begun, (third base)

Gather your friends and join in the fun.

If you’ve positioned yourself in the past year, (position of players; past year = pasture)

You will be ready to kick it in gear. (baseball equipment)

We’ll give you the clues so you can begin,

If you play the game well, $1,000 you’ll win. (game of baseball) (win a game)

Clue 2

Star Spangled Spectacular is what it’s about,

Smiling and waving along the parade route. (waving the players into home plate)

You might hedge a bet of where it’s hiding (hedge of bushes) (bet on baseball)

Finding it first, in the car, you’ll be riding. (first base)

Trailing the medallion is great family fun (trailing - trailer) (great family fun = baseball)

Deciphering each clue will get the job done.

Clue 3

Some of our clues might be a stretch, (seventh inning stretch)

But finding our gem is quite a catch. (diamond = gem, catch a ball)

Don’t let the clues rack your brain, (bike rack)

The effort you put forth will not be in vain.

The medallion rests in a convenient location, (Casey’s – convenient store)

Finding it soon should be this week’s vocation. (St. Louis Church nearby)

Clue 4

Avenues, alleys or streets lead you out and about (baseball term)

The $1,000 payout is a bonus – no doubt!

Our clues are meant to be twisted like a vine on a fence (undeveloped street) (fencing at park)

Just read between the lines and soon they’ll make sense (boundary lines)

So get off your duff, don’t be left behind, (left field)

The Medallion’s a trophy that’s yours to find. (winning team gets trophy)

Clue 5

You won’t find these sticks on a cedar tree, (bat) (undeveloped street)

But around a park where the admission is free. (ball park)

Sunflowers bloom in your visions at night, (near the field) (dreams – “Field of Dreams” baseball movie)
