Myrtle Zink
ZEARING — Myrtle P. Zink, 105, of Zearing, formerly of Princeton, died on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at her home.
She was born on July 26, 1905, in Princeton to Frederick and Ida (Anderson) Pierson. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1923. She then graduated from the DeKalb Teachers College in DeKalb. In 1925, Myrtle married John H. Zink in Iowa in 1940. He died in 1964.
She was an elementary teacher for 46 years. She was also a former principal and teacher at Logan Junior High School. She retired on June 1, 1972. After retirement, she served as a tour director for 17 years at the Lovejoy Homestead. She was a member of the Illinois Teachers Association, Princeton Elks and the Lovely Logan Ladies. She was a member of Hampshire Colony Congregational, where she also volunteered in the church office.
She is survived by one niece, Marjorie Albrecht of Princeton; two nephews, Robert (Jean) Pierson of Geneva and Fred (Carol) Pierson of Princeton; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Summers Chapel at Oakland Cemetery. Pastor Jack Stites will officiate. Burial will be private and at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
