OGLESBY — In an effort to boost employee morale and to engage in local community efforts, website design company All Web Promotion, based in Oglesby, organized a retreat day benefiting the local men and women of the United States military.

All Web Promotion schedules four retreat events each year. The company uses this time to promote togetherness amongst its employees through a series of morale boosting activities and meetings.

On Jan. 20, All Web Promotion closed its offices for half of their work day while employees shopped and sorted regularly requested foods, snacks and toiletries for local military men and women stationed overseas. Items such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, sun block, batteries, puzzle books and playing cards were among those purchased and sorted into individual care packages. All Web Promotion donated five large care packages to the Hometown Hugs for Our Heroes organization.

“Collectively, as a company, we decided to do something a little different for our quarterly retreat day. Instead of spending part of our day bowling or scavenger hunting at Starved Rock – two activities we’ve done in the past – it was decided to donate our time and resources to a local cause.” says Michael Roebuck, general manager and co-owner of All Web Promotion. “We chose to work with the Hometown Hugs for Our Heroes organization because of our own personal affiliations with soldiers in the military and because their efforts directly support the men and woman from right here in the Illinois Valley.”

Hometown Hugs for Our Heroes is a local non-for-profit organization located in Utica. The organization’s goal is to raise awareness in the Illinois Valley of local men and women serving our country. Hometown Hugs for Our Heroes is responsible for collecting supplies through donations and local fundraising events and sending care packages to local military troops stationed overseas.

“Our team had a great time with this project. It’s a great feeling knowing we were able to bring local troops a little touch and taste of home while at the same time providing necessities they could not acquire where they are stationed,” said Roebuck.
