SPRING VALLEY — Ned’s Smoke Shop in Spring Valley opened for business May 1 at 109 E. St. Paul St.

Co-owner Ned Abdallah runs the business that sells not only cigarettes and cigars, but other items such as loose tobacco, hookahs (glass devices used to smoke tobacco), a collection of clothing like hats and T-shirts, purses and body jewelry. He also sells electronic cigarettes and incense.

“We came to Spring Valley because we are familiar with the area,” he said, referring to a similar business he and his cousin ran in Peru before selling that one and coming to Spring Valley. “We know 80 percent of our customers because many people from DePue, Ladd and Spring Valley now don’t have to drive to Peru.”

Abdallah also wants to install two coolers to sell pop and candy, plus he will sell Lotto in the future.

His website address is www.nedssmokeshop.com. His phone number is 815-664-4040. His fax number is 815-664-4071.

Abdallah will also accept credit cards at his business that is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
