SPRING VALLEY — William Kenneth Hocking, 83, of 420 W. Third St., Spring Valley, died at 6:42 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Heritage Manor in Peru.
Born Feb. 6, 1928, in Peru to William F. and Rosa M. (Kobbemann) Hocking, he married Cecelia Mae Karpinski Sept. 3, 1949, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley. She died March 21, 2009.
He worked for Ladd Construction as a labor foreman until retiring. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of Christ Family Foursquare Church in LaSalle.
Surviving are three sons, Michael (Carolyn) Hocking of Peru, Phillip (Mary Ann) Hocking of Ladd and Jeffery (Colleen) Hocking of Sugarland, Texas; one sister, Jean Danz of Tonica; one sister-in-law, Emily "Bootsie" Nanni of Mark; one brother-in-law, John Oberholz of Peru; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Carol Ann Oberholz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with Pastor Oscar Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley, with full military rites conducted by the Ladd and Spring Valley American Legion posts.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to the services Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice or Christ Family Foursquare Church.
