PRINCETON — In an effort to strengthen individual marriages, reduce the divorce rate and build a stronger marriage culture, which in turn helps curtail poverty and benefits children, Bureau Township Community Church is providing a Valentine Date Night Challenge in collaboration with National Marriage Week Feb. 7-14.

Research shows that dating at least once a month significantly improves relationships. The Date Night Challenge is a two-hour simulcast featuring comedian Jeff Allen, singer/songwriter Michael O’Brien and bestselling authors Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley via webcast.

During the event, the Smalleys will explain the power of dating your mate and encourage couples to take the Date Night Challenge: Go on three dates in three weeks.

This is part of a national “date night movement” where the goal is for 5 million dates to take place across the country during the month of February.

This event is the first date of the challenge. Focus on the Family will then provide free, downloadable materials and content for the next two dates. Then, each month for the next year, couples can download a new free date night guide that provides content and ideas for their dates.

The first event will be offered Feb. 11 at the Bureau Township Community Church, located at 19126 Wyanet-Walnut Road, 4 1/2 miles north of Wyanet. After a 6 p.m. dinner, the webcast will follow at 7 p.m. Babysitting will be provided.

Reservations for the dinner, program and babysitting must be made by Sunday by calling the church at 815-699-2327, Kendra at 815-303-3921 or David at 815-878-6016.
