Home Rule and red flags

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Now that election time is approaching for Princeton residents, the issue of Home Rule will be on the ballot. Do we vote for it or against it? To help you decide let's consider some red flags that have cropped up.

Red Flag No. 1 is that the city council appointed what I call a hand-picked group to study the issue of Home Rule. Well, guess what? They unanimously reported to the city council that the issue should be put to a referendum. This in itself should alert you to something.

Red Flag No. 2 is that it would seem from past articles in this paper that the city council was pushing the need for Home Rule, but recently they stated that they don't want to "appear" to be for it or against it. This should alert you also. We better watch out before we vote on this issue. After all, it is your money that they are talking about.
