A problem at AmerenIP’s east Kewanee substation knocked out power to more than 2,000 customers in western Bureau County Thursday afternoon.
Ameren spokesperson Leigh Morris said the as-yet unidentified problem caused a transformer to go off, which tripped circuit breakers and eventually affected four other substations. The outage also affected 1,400 residents in Henry County.
The power went out around 3 p.m. and was restored at 4:40 p.m.
