Bowens will note 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bowen of 1905 Sixth St., Peru, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at Christmas time with immediate family.

Dennis L. Bowen and the former Nancy J. Newbury were married Jan. 27, 1962, at St. Columba in Ottawa. Their attendants were Mary Ann Newbury, maid of honor, and Donny Budach, best man.

They first lived in Ottawa. They are the parents of four children, Denise of Euless, Texas, Ed (Kathy) of Ottawa, Julie (Randy Dean) of DePue and Brett (Katie) of Saginaw, Texas. They also have five grandchildren, Amanda of Bloomington, Kayla of DePue, Nathan of Joliet, and Jack and Audrey, both of Saginaw, Texas.

Dennis worked at Caterpillar in Aurora for 33 years, retiring in 2005. He is an active member of the Illinois Valley chapter of the American Red Cross and Starved Rock Ham Radio Club. Nancy worked for the city of Peru as a crossing guard and in retail, retiring in 2004. She is a two-year breast cancer survivor.
