PRINCETON — A 17-year-old of Buda has been sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to the Class 1 felony of burglary on Jan. 19 before Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei. In addition to the prison sentence, the teen was ordered to pay $24,829 in restitution within five years.

He was also certified to be eligible for the DOC’s Impact Incarceration Program, a four- or six-month boot style-type program which provides youth offenders with education, physical training and counseling. If the Buda boy successfully completes the program, his prison sentence is considered served. If he is not accepted into the program or does not complete the program, he will serve his sentence as ordered.

On Aug. 27, 2011, trustees at a Buda church reported their premises had been entered and fire extinguishers expelled. Further checking revealed a wheelchair, cell phone and laptop computer were removed from the church. The Bureau County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of the Buda Police Department, connected him to the crime by footprints.
